What it covers
Upholstery cleaning applies to fabric-covered furniture such as sofas, loveseats, armchairs and dining chairs. It addresses body oils, dust and everyday spills that settle into the cloth.
Different fabrics respond differently, so the approach depends on what the piece is made of.
How upholstery cleaning usually works
Fabric furniture is usually checked first for fiber type and colorfastness, often by testing a small hidden area. The cleaning method follows from that check and from the care tag.
Some fabrics may only be suitable for gentle or low-moisture cleaning, and some marks may fade rather than lift fully.
Before you ask for a quote
List each piece of furniture, such as a three-cushion sofa or two armchairs. Include the fabric type if you know it.
Look for the care tag under a cushion and share its code, often a letter such as W, S, WS or X. Mention any stains and how old they are.
